Some Celtic supporters have reacted poorly to the club letting Jack Aitchison go on a permanent basis.
The club announced the deal earlier today, which will see the 20-year-old striker join English Championship side Barnsley.
The Tykes have signed him on a three-year deal but plan to immediately loan him out to an English League Two side.

Aitchison remains the club’s youngest ever goalscorer after netting against Motherwell in Ronny Deila’s last game, back in 2016.

At that point it looked like he had a massive Celtic future.
However, over the last few years, the Bhoys have relied on imported attacking stars such as Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard, operating at a level beyond what the youngster is capable of.

Join the forum now >>A regular and prolific goalscorer at Scotland U19 level, Aitchison has had spells out on loan at Dumbarton, Alloa and Forest Green Rovers in the past.
He’s managed to make just three senior appearances for Celtic and needs to play week-to-week for his development.

With no reserve football in Scotland and no chance of him making it into Neil Lennon’s current team, it looks like the right move all round.
Unfortunately, some fans don’t see it that way, feeling that Aitchison had the talent to be a Celtic player and that we’ve let him go too soon.
These supporters have taken to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts…
Boy wasn’t given a chance
Wrong move in my opinion

Another promising youngster is allowed to leave …why ?
The boy has everything he’s never been given a chance.— Keano (@Slanjboy) October 5, 2020
Wished we had kept him, all the young talented players are leaving, kills me seeing them go to Bayern or Man City when you hope they would see a better chance of making our first team

this is disgusting news celtic, this bhoy is a future star anywhere he goes and we had him and let him go, a great wee player, its about time we stopped being a selling club and give our own kids a chance and do well at celtic, buy you will never learn,

The people who make the decisions at celtic leave you shaking your head at times , we need people who know how to run a youth policy and recruitment .

This worries me Celtic we go trapping around the world looking for 18 year olds to improve and sell on pay fees and loan fees but don’t try out our own youngsters then let them go no wonder they are leaving for Bayern Munich etc … just tell me why ?

Ridiculous letting go of prospects. Kid has every right to feel let down by the club done everything then not given a proper chance, showed what he could do years ago then humped out on loan.

Good luck 🤞🏻 I hope we have a clause in deal to get back for a small fee as he’s definitely a decent player. All the best @JackAitchison7 I’m sure you’ll do well 🙏🏻🤞🏻💚

Buy back clause? If not seems like awful bit of business.
