When it comes to discussing Celtic’s 2-1 win over Lazio in the Europa League, a couple of performances stick out. Ryan Christie drove the Hoops forward to the win with a goal and an assist. But there is one player who was arguably even more influential than the Celtic attacker, and that’s Fraser Forster.

Forster pulled off two stunning saves in the win over Lazio. The first was from a close range effort by Marco Parolo, which prevented Lazio from retaking the lead.

The second was even better though, an injury-time stop from a Danilo Cataldi thunderbolt which preserved Celtic’s lead.

It is not going over the top to claim that it is one of the best saves ever by a Celtic goalkeeper. With that performance in mind, Celtic fans will have one demand to make of the club after the win over Lazio – sign Forster up on a permanent basis.

The player is only on-loan at the club from Southampton until the end of the season. The Daily Echo recently disclosed that Forster’s deal with the club does not contain a clause to sign the player at the end of the season.

However, he is so important to the team that Celtic must find a way to sign the player on a permanent basis if possible. His performances are almost on par with those of his first spell with Celtic.

If it was up to the player you imagine that he would love to return to Celtic on a regular basis. Southampton’s poor performances might not help in that aspect though. You would imagine that a team that lost 9-0 to Leicester will be quite keen to take another look at Forster at the end of the season.

There is no doubt that everyone at Celtic would love to keep Forster at the club for the foreseeable future. There is no guarantee that is going to happen though.
