Celtic gear up for Josip Juranovic announcement
Croatian international Josip Juranovic has received a medical assessment in Glasgow tonight ahead of his proposed move from Legia Warsaw to Celtic.
Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas shared the news earlier this evening, stating that the 10-cap international was going through the process as he published.
Juranovic is now set to be announced as a new Celtic player this weekend, should there be no major issues flagged up at the medical.
We know in the past with David Turnbull how quickly these things can fall apart, but it’s looking good.
Celtic could even make the announcement prior to tomorrow’s match against St Mirren, or do the old-fashioned parade at half-time routine.
Over 50,000 people will be in attendance for tomorrow’s Scottish Premiership encounter and it’d be great to see a new player be given a big dramatic unveiling.
If Juranovic signs, he’ll be adding much-needed depth to the right-back position. Anthony Ralston has been holding his own in recent weeks and was particularly impressive against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, but he badly needs support in the position.
Juranovic also looks like a more viable long-term, quality option than Ralston, despite the Academy graduates progress this summer.
The 26-year-old has been playing regularly in Poland and UEFA competition recently, so he should be able to hit the ground running.
