Celtic had no choice but to reject reported latest Arsenal offer for Tierney

Celtic have reportedly rejected Arsenal’s second bid for Hoops mainstay Kieran Tierney. If reports of the way Arsenal structured the deal are to be believed, Celtic had no choice but to turn the deal down.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed on Twitter that Arsenal’s latest offer for the player was £18 million plus £7 million in add-ons.

Should that be the case, it is no wonder that Celtic turned down the latest offer. If Arsenal want to land Tierney, the Hoops will be hoping for a better deal than that.

Situation has to be resolved soon

Celtic will want the situation with Tierney resolved sooner rather than later. If it continues to drag on for weeks on end, it is not helping anybody.

If any deal is to be done it has to be done soon so Celtic can identify another left-back to bring into the squad. Celtic’s position will be backed by the club’s support.

Celtic’s stance is the correct one

The Hoops are out to get as much money as the can for the player. Tierney doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to leave, so Celtic’s stance is the right one.

If Arsenal or any other side are interested in Tierney, they will have to pay the most money up-front. Talk of millions in add-ons isn’t likely to impress anyone at Celtic Park.

Only time will tell if Arsenal return with a third offer for the player. If they do, it will have to be more impressive than the last one reportedly was.
