Celtic’s search for a new goalkeeper is dominating the headlines this summer as the club looks to find a suitable replacement for Joe Hart.
We have already discussed this morning how Roger Hannah admitted that he knew Celtic were looking at two or three different options for the open jersey number.
With no less than 20 different names linked to the number one jersey, the media have been hard at work trying to find out who Brendan Rodgers wants to take over from Hart.
However, it seems that another name has entered the fray this morning but it has nothing to do with the goalkeeping position and it is a name that Brendan Rodgers knows very well.
Wilfred Ndidi has been offered to Celtic
According to the Daily Record, Nigerian international midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has been offered to Celtic.
The report says that the club were ‘made aware’ on Monday night that Ndidi is interested in a switch to Paradise and wants to team up again with Rodgers.
Celtic were also linked to Ndidi last summer after Rodgers was appointed as the Hoops boss but nothing came of those rumours.
Now out of contract, Ndidi was said to be in negotiations with The Foxes about a possible extension now that they are heading back to the English Premier League. [Leicester City FC]
The report also says that wages could be a big stumbling block with Everton also said to hold an interest in the Nigerian but Champions League football could be a big draw for him.
What Brendan Rodgers has said about Wilfred Ndidi
The Celtic boss had a successful time at Leicester City in his first two seasons at the club with Ndidi at the heart of his midfield.
Rodgers knows Ndidi well from his time in England where the 27-year-old helped him win the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Not long after his arrival at The King Power Stadium in 2019, Rodgers said of him [Leicester Mercury], “For him, he’s got so much talent. Looking at his numbers he’s up there with having played the most games this season, with Kasper.
“All we try to do is make it clear what his function is in the team. It’s a job that may seem a simple job but he does it so effectively.
“He has to win the ball and give it, simple as that. He doesn’t need to be in the box shooting, that’s not your job.
“So it’s just simplifying his game and trying to make him efficient. He’s been very impressive.”
Clearly, Rodgers is a huge fan of Ndidi and at just 27 and on a free transfer, if the Celtic boss can get this deal done, it would be a shrewd piece of business by the Irishman.
