There are so many areas of the pitch that Celtic could look to enhance during the January transfer window from centre-back to the striker department.
But how about Brendan Rodgers bringing in another left-back?
Greg Taylor was Ange Postecoglou’s main guy last season and that has continued under Brendan Rodgers.
But Pat Bonner questioned if his time could be up as a starter for Celtic, as he told BBC Sportsound (26/12/23 at 2:35 pm).
The roles Greg Taylor played last season compared to this current campaign are entirely different and Pat Bonner ‘isn’t sure’ he now suits the style of play presented to him.
That’s why a dip into the winter transfer window could be in the offing, especially with Alexandro Bernabei’s future now looking like it will lead to the exit door.
That in itself would require Celtic to bring in another left-back, but the next one coming in might also dispose of Greg Taylor as a starter.
Pat Bonner certainly feels there is a ‘big question’ mark hovering over it.
Greg Taylor’s future at Celtic
“Well, there has been a big question,” said Bonner about Celtic needing another left-back. “They have been talking about that for a long, long time.
“Greg Taylor was outstanding last season. But he was outstanding playing in a slightly different role. He has been asked to play a little wider now. I am not sure that suits Greg Taylor. I thought he was sensational last year. He was the best in Scotland in adapting to playing that.
“It was almost like an inverted fullback almost playing like a front player. He wasn’t sitting in midfield being a supporting player.
“Now it’s different for Greg. He is a little deeper and wider. Has he got enough about his game to do that? That will be up for question. That is all up for debate.”

More concerning areas than left-back
Look, if the club decide to bring in another left-back, then it’s understandable because competition will be needed.
But it shouldn’t really be a priority because other positions, such as midfield, need sorting out first.
You could even argue centre-back, with Nat Phillips returning to Liverpool and the continued absences of Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki.
Then there is the situation of Hyeongyu Oh and Kyogo Furuhashi leaving for the Asia Cup games, so that’s another concern.
All in all, those in the boardroom have a lot to work on and fingers crossed targets are met.
