As you may be aware, Celtic are interested in signing Sporting CP right-back Valentin Rosier this summer, it has been reported by a Turkish journalist.

Ekrem Konur reported to his 118,000 followers on Twitter that the Bhoys are in the hunt for the Portuguese-based right back, who could be available for £6m.

Rosier was a crucial player for Besiktas last season, starting regularly in a team that won a league and cup double.

Apparently having no future in Portugal, he could now end up in Scotland.

Marseille are also keen on bringing him back to Ligue 1, where he first made his name with Dijon as a youngster.

Rosier is predominately a right-back and played exclusively on that flank last season. However, he can also fill in as an emergency left-back.

This would be an ambitious move on the Bhoys’ part. You could easily see a player like Rosier featuring for a Europa League or Champions League calibre side next season.

WhoScored rate him as a player who is strong in dribbling, crossing and creating chances, with strong defensive concentration.

It’s easy to understand why having a player of that style, and with Rosier’s calibre, would be exciting for supporters.

Of course, it should be stressed this is far from a done deal. Nothing is ever easy for Celtic supporters in a transfer window so don’t be expecting Rosier in the door tomorrow.

However, it’s fair to say the link has online supporters talking. The majority of it is positive.

This is a position we clearly need to strengthen significantly. If we can get a proper right-back in the door early, it’d be a great morale boost for everyone.

Get it done Celtic!
