Celtic are interested in signing Peterborough United attacker Siriki Dembele next year, website TEAMtalk has reported on Sunday.
Siriki, the older brother of hyped Hoops talent Karamoko, plays for Peterborough United in English League One.
He’s having an impressive season down there, netting five goals, assisting four more in 11 league games and splitting his time between centre-forward and left-wing duties (Transfermarkt).
TEAMtalk report that Premier League and Championship clubs are now having a very close look at the player, but that it’s Celtic who are pushing for his signature.
The outlet states that the Bhoys see it as a practical way of tying down Karamoko to another contract.
Siriki is available on a pre-contract basis from January, with his current deal at Posh due to expire at the end of the coming campaign.
Like the Celtic teenager, the 24-year-old talent is represented by his family when it comes to contractual and transfer matters, so working out something could pay off for the reigning Scottish champions in multiple ways.
Peterborough have proven difficult to deal with recently. Celtic’s pursuit of Ivan Toney ended with his transfer to Brentford after protracted negotiations.
However, we can effectively cut them out of the equation in January by speaking directly to the player.
This will be one to watch over the coming weeks.
It’ll be interesting to see if other outlets, north of the border, follow this up with reports of their own.
In other news, Ryan Christie wants a challenge away from Celtic in the future.
