Celtic tried to sign Calvin Miller on Deadline Day, according to Charlie Mulgrew.
Hoops academy product Miller was a highly-rated prospect a decade ago, converted by Brendan Rodgers into a left-back.
He made five senior appearances for Celtic under Rodgers, before being loaned to Dundee and Ayr United.
Once he left permanently, he spent a few years bouncing around the lower divisions in England and Scotland, before joining League One Falkirk in 2022.
This has helped relaunch his career as a winger, and Miller has been one of the Bairns’ key players in their unlikely Scottish Premiership top-six push this season.

Celtic tried to sign Calvin Miller
There’s no denying that Miller has impressed in the Premiership this season, but a move to Celtic would still have been a major surprise.
Regardless, Mulgrew has stated that it came very close to happening in the final days of the window.

On the Go Radio Football show, conversations were being had about Celtic leaving it late to sign players, just to be disappointed.
But is apparently exactly what happened on Miller’s end, with Mulgrew saying: “It happens both ways, though.
“I know that Celtic were trying to get Calvin Miller. He thought he was in the door.
“His agent got a call two days before, saying that it’s ready to be done, they want him, and he was delighted to go back to Celtic.
“8.30pm on the night of the window, it was done – obviously Celtic had plates spinning the way players do.
“I don’t know where he was [in that pecking order], whether he was second choice, and he thought he was getting a dream move back to Celtic and it didn’t happen.
“He got told at 8.30pm that the deal is off, so it happens both ways. That’s why these things drag out.”
Miller has four goals and six assists in the Premiership this season, playing on both sides of John McGlynn’s front three.
