Celtic have reportedly joined Rangers in the race for a Hungarian winger.
A striker is still the main priority for Martin O’Neill, with the need for a goalscorer getting clearer with every game.
But after Sunderland hijacked Celtic’s move for Jocelin Ta Bi, they were sent back to the drawing board in their search for a right-winger too.
A left-footed winger option hasn’t been available since the departure of Nicolas Kuhn, leading to Luke McCowan’s use as a makeshift right-winger under O’Neill.
But Celtic are seemingly still after a right-winger option, a recently-capped Hungary international playing in Slovakia.
How much of a priority is a right-winger for Celtic in January?
Celtic join Rangers in race for Damir Redzic
Celtic have joined Rangers in the battle to sign Damir Redzic of Dunajska Streda, according to TEAMtalk.
A left-footed right-winger, Redzic had been on the Ibrox sides’ shortlist for January, and they are reportedly still eyeing the Hungarian despite their recent signing of Andreas Skov Olsen.

Redzic is comfortable on both feet and loves a dribble. In 14 league appearances so far this season, he has scored seven goals.
He made his Hungary debut late last year, in the worst possible circumstances: their dramatic 3-2 defeat to Ireland in Budapest.
The 22-year-old is a product of the Ferencvaros youth academy, but struggled to break into their first-team, leading to a loan move to Slovakia.
DAC made his loan move permanent in 2024, but it wasn’t until this season that he became a nailed-on starter for the club.
Celtic have done January business with DAC in the past, signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo from them in 2019.
If anything comes of the Redzic rumours, he’ll hopefully make more of an impact than the Ivorian striker, who scored just one goal in Glasgow (or three, if it wasn’t for Craig Levein.)
Bayo now plays for Udinese in Serie A, alongside Lennon Miller.
What would you say to Dermot Desmond about Celtic’s transfer model now?
Which positions could Celtic target apart from striker?
Ta Bi had seemingly been destined for Glasgow, but medical issues arose according to reports, before his head was turned by Sunderland.
Arne Engels has been linked with RB Leipzig. Though it seems unthinkable, a midfield sale would surely force the club into a signing in that area. Ridwan Popoola has been approached by Celtic.
O’Neill fancies a centre-half, too. Aurele Amenda has been targeted, but 6ft 7in man Jamie Lawrence is the latest to be linked.
Celtic’s links with Stefan Ortega indicate that a goalkeeper is on the wishlist, but that move would suit the club much more in the summer.
