Celtic have announced the signing of goalkeeper Josh Clarke from Glenavon FC.
The Scottish champions reportedly beat a number of Premier League clubs to the signing of former Chelsea and Bournemouth youngster [The Daily Record], who joined the Irish Premiership side in March.
The young goalkeeper has joined Celtic’s B team, where he’ll offer competition with current number one Tobi Oluwayemi for the gloves.
Clarke has a wealth of experience at international youth level, having turned out for Sweden, England, Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland at various levels.
He also received an international call-up for Ian Baraclough’s first team for Northern Ireland’s internationals against Luxembourg and Hungary in March.
The youngster also scored a remarkable goal for Bournemouth’s Under-18’s during his time on the south coast.
Celtic’s B-team players will train at Lennoxtown full time this season, with plans for full implementation of Ange Postecoglou’s philosophy and training methods.
With Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus in place to coach the next generation of Celtic players, there are high hopes that an established pathway for youth stars can be paved in the coming years.
