The situation surrounding Celtic and Adam Idah took a couple of twists and turns this week as the Bhoys look to kick-off their summer transfer window.

Celtic have yet to make a signing ahead of the new season but Brendan Rodgers has been clear since May that he was keen to get Idah tied down to a permanent contract.

The club officially made their move for the striker this week per reports from multiple outlets in Scotland and England, only to see their initial advances rejected by Norwich City. [Sky Sports]

However, the path to an Idah move to Glasgow is open, in part because of the wishes of the player himself. If the latest update on the matter is to be believed, he’s intent on forcing through a move.

The Daily Record reports that talks between Norwich and Celtic are at an ‘advanced stage’ after ‘significant progress’ was made.

Adam Idah expected to get permission on Celtic move

It’s stated that there’s now an expectation Idah will eventually be given permission to travel to Scotland and undergo a medical after he made it clear to the Canaries he wants the transfer.

There still a way to go then but it seems this situation is now all boiling down to negotiation rather than offers and outright knockbacks.

Norwich will try to maximise value but if Idah truly doesn’t want to play for them next season it’s hard to see the club not cashing in.

Idah has earned Celtic investing in his future

After nine goals in 19 appearances for the Bhoys last term – including crucial winning efforts and two derby blockbusters – Idah has shown has the talent and mentality to come up big for Celtic.

You never quite know how a player will perform in the cauldron of Scottish football. It takes personality as well as ability. Rodgers managed to tap into a new confidence within Idah to spark excellent form.

That’s worth a chunk of money. Rodgers will be getting a known quantity in the door to play a huge part in what he is building at the club. He wants his man and, with a bit more back and forth, it seems he’ll get him.
