In Celtic’s recent 2-0 defeat to Livingston, the Hoops were lacking in creativity. It seems strange that a team that has scored so many goals could seem so toothless, but that was the case at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
The Hoops were struggling to create chances even before Ryan Christie’s red card, as the midfield failed to function on what was a bad day for the club.
The lack of chances created and lack of guile in the side brought to mind a player who has left the Hoops on loan for the season. His passing ability would have been most welcome. Particularly for a Hoops team that was struggling to create chances.
Done well in few Hoops appearances
That player is Ewan Henderson, who is currently on loan at Ross County. Henderson, when featuring for the Celtic first-team last season, contributed a fair bit to the Hoops success.
He made six appearances for the Hoops in that time, and contributed three assists. He has featured regularly for Ross County since moving to Dingwall on loan> However, he was left on the bench for the recent 2-2 draw with St Johnstone.
The player’s ability to run with the ball and pick a pass would have been most welcome for the Hoops against Livingston, but it was not to be.
Not going to feature regularly this season
Henderson was not going to get regular game time for the Hoops this season. That is why he was allowed to leave on loan.
However, he would have been useful to have on the bench at least for the Hoops as they have struggled in recent league games.
Neil Lennon will be keeping a close eye on Henderson’s progress at Ross County over the course of the season. Should he do well for County, it could help his Celtic career from next season. Henderson could be a key player for the Hoops in years to come.
