So far it has been a relatively successful summer transfer window for Celtic. However, it seems like the Hoops have missed out on a player who was reportedly a transfer target.

Rekeem Harper, who was a target for the Hoops this summer, has agreed a new three-year contract with West Brom.

Given ‘VIP treatment’

The player, according to the Express and Star, was at Celtic’s last league game of the season against Hearts, and was given the ‘VIP treatment’.

However, that was before West Brom appointed Slaven Bilic. The player presumably agreed to stay with the Baggies after discussions with the manager.

Harper is the second midfielder that the Hoops have failed to sign this summer. The other being David Turnbull, whose deal was cancelled due to a knee injury.

Manager will be disappointed not to sign player

Celtic boss Neil Lennon will be disappointed not to have signed the player, who would have done a good job for the Hoops in the middle of the park.

For now though, Celtic will presumably continue their search for a midfield addition to the side. In fact, reports have already linked the Hoops with a move for Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers.

So whilst this move might not have come to pass for Celtic, there is no reason not to think that the Hoops will sign another midfielder this summer.
