Celtic have reportedly offered former Rangers player Liam Burt the chance to train with the club in an attempt to win a deal with the Scottish champions.
The Scottish Sun has revealed that the midfielder will spend the next few weeks training with the Hoops. That presumably means he will be heading on Celtic’s pre-season tour to Austria on Monday.
Manager keen to look at player
Burt was spotted heading into Celtic’s Lennoxtown training complex recently, and it looks as if Neil Lennon is keen to take a look at the player.
If Burt does join Celtic permanently, he will be the first player to possibly play first team games for Celtic and Rangers since Kenny Miller.
He was at Celtic as a youth player before moving to Rangers. Therefore, going to Celtic won’t be an issue for the player.
Could be involved in pre-season friendlies
It will be interesting to see if Burt plays for the Hoops in any of the games in Austria.
His career has been stifled by injury issues in recent years. However, Neil Lennon must feel that the player has something worth taking a look at.
Would Burt currently get into the Celtic first-team? Probably not. But the Hoops will play a lot of games next season.
The squad will be stretched to the limit. Therefore, the Hoops may feel that Burt is worth making a move for. We shall find out over the next few weeks.
