Celtic have sanctioned the loan exit of goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi to fellow Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

The deal has been approved by the SPFL under the emergency loans rule, with Oluwayemi joining for an initial seven day period.

The 22-year-old Londoner has been with Celtic since 2019 having joined from Tottenham Hotspur, and has spent time out on loan at Cork City, Admira Wacker and Dunfermline Athletic.

Oluwayemi made 36 appearances for the Pars last season as Celtic legend Neil Lennon steered them away from the Scottish Championship relegation spots.

Kilmarnock confirm signing of Celtic’s Tobi Oluwayemi

Kilmarnock announced the signing of the young goalkeeper by stating: “We can confirm the signing of goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi on an emergency seven-day loan from Celtic.

“The 22-year-old London-born shot-stopper came through the youth systems at Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic, gaining valuable experience through loan spells with Cork City, Admira Wacker in Austria, and most recently Dunfermline Athletic, where he established himself as first-choice goalkeeper.

“Oluwayemi joins Kilmarnock for an initial seven-day period, in accordance with SPFL rules on emergency loans.”

Killie were forced into the move due to first choice stopper Max Stryjek’s mystery issue, which kept him out of the Ayrshire side’s 3-0 defeat to Hearts on Saturday night.

Boss Stuart Kettlewell revealed that Stryjek’s problem was spotted during a recent annual screening test, but he refused to disclose further details.

Eddie Beach is the only other first-team goalkeeper in the squad, with Robby McCrorie and two other youngsters out on loan at the moment.

Oluwayemi will bolster the goalkeeping department at Killie for a week at least.
