Celtic have been notified they could make a big transfer profit on Thomas Robert’s signing if they pull the trigger this month.
The former Montpellier youth player made a shock move to Airdrie United during the summer transfer window.
He’s been performing well in Scottish League One. It’s said that both Celtic and Rangers have been watching his progress.
Robert’s agent has now made it clear he’s available for a transfer this month.
Paul Tait of Gold Sports Management reckons that any suitor could end up making a big profit on his signing.
As quoted by The Daily Record, he said: “We wanted to get him to a club where we knew he would get first-team football and would make an impact, as he has done.
“It did take a bit of selling because he hadn’t heard of Airdrie before the move. We just told him that there have been guys who have come through the club like Gary Mackay-Steven and went to Dundee United and then Celtic.
“There are guys like for example Andy Robertson is at Queen’s Park and goes to Dundee United then goes south and ends up at Liverpool. I believe he can follow a similar route.
“Rangers and Celtic have been watching him because I believe they don’t want to miss out before the English clubs swoop in. Thomas is worth a gamble for a few hundred thousand, because when he goes to the next level, we will be talking millions.”
Celtic transfer profit
Agents try to advertise their players in the best possible light. It’s hardly a surprise to hear Tait speak in glowing terms about his client.
However, Robert’s situation is undoubtedly an interesting one.

He’s scored four goals and assisted two more for his club since the lower league season started in October.
Capable of playing on both wings, positionally he also makes sense for Celtic.
Tait goes on to say he’s expecting offers for Robert this month, so if the recruitment team at Celtic Park want to take a small gamble on a young attacking talent with a sound footballing education, now’s the time.
In other news, Celtic were keen on signing Robert Snodgrass this month.
