The noise around Giorgos Giakoumakis’ potential exit from Celtic is intensifying with some reports now indicating teams from as many as five countries are chasing his services.
Giakoumakis has found his starting opportunities limited at the Bhoys of late after Kyogo Furuhashi returned to consistent scoring form and a heavy schedule lightened up.
The Greek forward hasn’t been named in an Ange Postecoglou starting eleven since 5th November and only six other times prior to that this season.

Celtic’s transfer profit on Giorgos Giakoumakis
The Scottish Sun reports that teams from Italy, Japan, USA, Russia and the Middle Easter are all showing interest this January with Celtic expected to hold firm on a transfer valuation of at least £8m.
That’s three times more than what the Bhoys paid Dutch side VVV-Venlo for the international in the summer of 2021.
Giakoumakis plays with his heart on his sleeve and offers a direct threat that no-one else in the Celtic squad does. He’s become a fan favourite as a result.
However, having rejected improved contract terms it seems that a parting of ways could make sense for both parties.
For the player, the chance to start at a club every week and seek the wages he truly wants. For Celtic, selling a talent for a significant profit that could well be his peak value in Scotland.
Ange Postecoglou shared last week that the club had not yet received a serious offer for anyone at the Bhoys, but this is a situation that could change quickly – especially with multiple teams keen.
Whether Giakoumakis stays or goes, it seems that Celtic will be winners.
