Dundee United will be looking to be quids in when it comes to Celtic target Lawrence Shankland.

According to the Daily Record, the Hoops have been scouting the Arabs striker this season following his impressive goals tally.

Has Neil Lennon left it too late to get his man after he made his Scotland debut last night? Or is this only proving that The Bhoys should be making their move?

Several loan spells without making too much of an impact left him at Ayr United. He excelled in two seasons to become top scorer before joining his current club Dundee United.

With Steve Clarke lacking bodies, he called up Shankland to his latest Scotland squad. He came on last night at half time but made little impact as the Scots were soundly beaten by Russia.

What the debut will have done is bump the price up for any potential suitors of his. Shankland is no longer a good Championship player but an international which helps with his fee.

There is clearly a talent in there and on paper he seems to have the lot which Celtic desire. However, is that enough to get a potential move over the line?

Will Scotland striker turn his back on Dundee United?

Shankland is seeing his contact out with the Arabs going by recent reports.

As everyone knows, every player has his price and he’ll be getting a taste mixing with top players with Scotland. He will want to improve and go up the club ladder.

Celtic can offer that to him but he will be up against it to get into the first team. Is it even worth Shankland’s while to try and beat the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths to the team?

Only he will know when it’s the right time to leave United. However, if he continues his fantastic scoring form into yet another season he will have his pick of clubs.
