Celtic should make transfer move for Nicolai Boilesen

Celtic will be in the market for a left-back sooner rather than later. Kieran Tierney is on the verge of completing a £25 million to Arsenal.

Recent arrival Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has not really impressed in his performances for the Hoops so far. Therefore, another left-back will need to be purchased.

One player that should be under consideration is a team-mate of a player that the Hoops were once linked with. Copenhagen left-back Nicolai Boilesen.

The Hoops were linked with a move for his team-mate Peter Ankersen. However, that was before Hatem Abd Elhamed joined the club.

But Boilesen looks like he would be a good addition to the Hoops squad. Last season he was a regular for Copenhagen, making 38 appearances.

He is an experienced player, and at 27, is a player who would be purchased for the here and now, and not be sold on for a profit in the future.

Recent signing Christopher Jullien is also 27, so that should not be putting the Hoops off from making a move for the player.

Perhaps the only sticking point will be the players’ contract, which runs until 2023. However, Celtic will soon be able to spend big on any defender that they want.

The Tierney money will make a huge difference to the Hoops’ transfer budget. Therefore, they can pay over the odds if need be to land a player.

Could Boilesen be that player? Only time will tell. But a new left-back should be brought in as soon as possible.
