Scottish football pundit Tam McManus has claimed that Celtic are not doing their job properly if they don’t sign Motherwell talent Allan Campbell.
The Scottish Sun reports that both Aberdeen and Hibernian are eager to sign Campbell, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
The report also claims that both teams are eager to sign the player as soon as possible.
Pundit had plenty to say
However, on his Twitter account, McManus claims that the reports linking the pair to Campbell is ‘nonsense paper talk’ and that he is bound for the English Championship or abroad.
Then, in a reply to a Hibernian fan, McManus makes the claim that Celtic and Glasgow rivals Rangers ‘ain’t doing their job right’ if they aren’t looking to sign Campbell.
Firstly, I doubt that Nick Hammond and Neil Lennon will be pleased about being accused of not doing their job properly if they don’t make a move for Campbell.

There is no doubt that Campbell is a promising player. However, that does not mean that he is automatically on Celtic’s transfer shortlist.
Hoops will be looking at lots of players in Scotland
Celtic will be looking at lots of players, especially those in Scottish football. It is not unknown for Celtic to sign the best Scottish talent either – Campbell’s Motherwell teammate David Turnbull joined the Hoops this season and has looked excellent in his appearances so far.
Celtic might not be looking at midfield as a priority area at the moment. It seems that left-back is where Neil Lennon wants to make a signing.

Therefore, Campbell might not be heading to Celtic any time soon. However, McManus’ accusation is a bit over the top.
Maybe if the time was right Celtic would be alongside Hibernian and Aberdeen in the bidding war for Campbell. A war which Celtic would undoubtedly win. At the moment though, in the current transfer window, Celtic have other issues to deal with.
