Celtic have sent scouts to watch QPR attacker Sinclair Armstrong this season, a new report has claimed on Monday.
Armstrong, still just 20, has made a breakthrough at the English Championship side over the last 12 months and has already notched up 33 appearances in all competitions.
He’s been starting regularly this term but they’ve found themselves in a precarious position towards the bottom of the second-tier.
With less than a year on his contract at Loftus Road, TEAMtalk reports that both Celtic and English Premier League side Crystal Palace have been watching the ‘powerful’ striker in action this term.
However, QPR are keen on signing him up to a new long-term deal and have entered discussions with the player to that end.
Armstrong features for the Republic of Ireland U21s side and is a teammate of Celtic players such as Rocco Vata, Bosun Lawal and Johnny Kenny.
Celtic have often looked to England for young players coming to the end of their contracts with Moussa Dembele and Jeremie Frimpong standing out as notable examples. Plenty have arrived who haven’t quite made their mark, too.
It’s no surprise to hear that Celtic are tracking the player, especially with his Irish background. With QPR apparently confident of tying him down, the interest may not materialise into anything tangible, but it’s a name to keep track of over the coming months at least.
