Celtic signing Carl Starfelt would ease a lot of tension around Parkhead

Celtic’s transfer business really does seem to be picking up after the news surrounding the football club over the last two days.

Reports in Israel yesterday stated that right-winger Liel Abada is closing in on signing for the Hoops [One]. As for today, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Celtic have agreed a fee with Rubin Kazan and Carl Starfelt for the player’s transfer.

That means, hopefully either today or tomorrow, we’ll have sorted two of three major positions. This was an essential task ahead of the UCL qualifier against Midtjylland next week at Celtic Park. The Hoops have until tomorrow to register their squad to UEFA, and will have up until Monday to add two new players to the mix.

Hopefully, either one of Abada or Starfelt see their move completed before the close of play tomorrow. That would allow Celtic to include them in the UCL squad whilst including the other along with a possible right-back addition as their two extra players in the coming days.

Celtic signing Carl Starfelt would cool concerns about centre-back position

So much of the issues surrounding the football club in recent days has revolved around the centre-back position. With only Kris Ajer, Stephen Welsh, and Nir Bitton available, we always needed one more in. Fingers crossed Starfelt can prove to be that man.

That would leave us with only one major signing still to make before Midtjylland, assuming Abada also comes in. A new right-back to replace Anthony Ralston. Romano claims that Brandon Soppy of Rennes is Celtic’s next target. Fans continue to wait patiently to see what comes of that one.

But all we asked for now is that we brought in those three signings. Right-wing, centre-back, and right-back are the priority areas for now. Whilst there are other concerns, those can be stretched out a bit further for later on in the window. There were emergency slots needing filled, and Celtic appear close to filling two whilst closing in on the third.

And there’s no denying there’s a relief going through the supporters as Swedish centre-back Starfelt nears his Celtic switch.

Here, we take a look at some of the reaction to Romano’s tweet from earlier today:
