Celtic target Damian Bobadilla has been tipped to be a success if he were to make the move to Parkhead this summer.
The Hoops have been linked with Bobadilla as they look to revamp their midfield, which has become too one-dimensional and overly reliant on Callum McGregor to provide a different option to their attacking outlets.
Bobadilla has caught the eye with his performances at Sao Paulo, but what could he offer to Celtic? 67 Hail Hail spoke to the Copa Club’s Nathan Joyes to get the lowdown on the 24-year-old.
Is Damian Bobadilla an upgrade on Celtic’s current midfield options?
Who would he be most likely to replace? 🤔
How has Damian Bobadilla fared at Sao Paulo since joining?
“On a personal level, Damian Bobadilla’s move from Cerro Porteno to Sao Paulo has worked out incredibly well. The Paraguayan has continued what he was doing back in his native land but just in front of a bigger audience.
“Sao Paulo have exceeded expectations at the start of the season. Hernan Crespo admitted they were in a relegation battle before a ball was kicked yet they’ve found themselves fighting at the top of the table in the early rounds.”

How would you describe Damian Bobadilla’s playing style?
“Dangerous around the opponent’s final third, Bobadilla enjoys a long strike from range, but also thrives when pressing high and getting into areas that will hurt the opponent – both when in and out of possession.
“A creative outlet but one that isn’t shy to help his team out, Bobadilla has shown more at international level that he can be technical but work hard defensively too.
“If you were to force a negative from me, his defensive numbers could be improved, but it isn’t his main role – allow Bobadilla to play and have a free role and he’ll excel.”
The 2026 transfer window is still months away, but what is the number one position Celtic need to improve this summer?📝
Tell us why you picked that position
How much do you think Sao Paulo would demand for Damian Bobadilla?
“There’s no reason why he can’t perform in Europe. Although 24, his career journey has seen him rack up enough appearances to work on areas of his game – something that doesn’t tend to happen in the modern game enough these days.
“They won’t want to lose him, but a sizeable bid could force the club to part ways. I’d expect somewhere in the region of €7-10m plus add ons could be enough to secure his signature.”
