Earlier this morning, more Celtic transfer news emerged, regarding Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet.
According to the Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan – so often a reliable source for Hoops news – Hibs want £4m for their star man. Nisbet, who made Steve Clarke’s Euro 2020 squad, is also the subject of interest from Swansea, Nottingham Forest and FC Krasnodar [Daily Mail].
Signing forwards from Hibs has, in general, been the right move for Celtic. Anthony Stokes, Leigh Griffiths have shone since making the move from Leith. While there’s the odd Chris Killen or Derek Riordan in the mix, history suggests it’s a fruitful endeavour.
Nisbet, who scored 18 and set up 8 in all competitions last year, would certainly provide Celtic with options. An out-and-out danger in the box, he’s a natural number 9 who will surely see far more goalscoring opportunities at Celtic Park. That’s if he moves; we don’t know what the Bhoys’ response is quite yet.
Definitely an upgrade on either Bayo or Klimala, who left after a year, Nisbet has proven Premiership quality. Whether or not he’s ready for European football, though, is anyone’s guess. His year-on-year improvement in the SPFL indicates there’s plenty of potential in the former Dunfermline man yet, though [Transfermarkt].
