Daniel Kelly looks set to finalise his Celtic departure this summer after the youngster agreed to join Millwall on a pre-contract.
With talks down the line over an early departure, the 18-year-old is set to net the Bhoys a fee in the region of £400,000 once his move is ratified.
Scotland Under-19 midfielder Kelly was offered £5,000 per week to stay at the reigning Scottish Premiership champions. Celtic also wanted him to head out on loan this season to gain further first-team experience.
Nevertheless, he didn’t want to commit his future to the club. Seemingly, his next chapter was supposed to begin at Millwall tomorrow when they travel to Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, there is now a snag that has reportedly ruled him out of facing the Tigers at the MKM Stadium.
Celtic’s Daniel Kelly paperwork delay
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Millwall have been left ‘frustrated’ as Celtic have delayed the paperwork for his move to be finalised. This means he won’t be able to travel with their squad to face Hull.
He stated on social media platform X: “Millwall left frustrated by Celtic’s delay in signing off paperwork for his move to be finalised meaning he will not be able to make his Lions debut this weekend. Kelly completed his medical and signed contract at Millwall earlier this week.”
Having already signed a contract and completed medical checks, the reason for the delay in proceedings hasn’t yet been made clear.
Truthfully, it would be best for everyone if the situation could be sorted out swiftly. Kelly has chosen to move to Millwall, leaving Celtic to prioritise the development of other youngsters that could potentially make the step up at senior level.
Hopefully, he can leave the club to bring the situation to a close. Both clubs will be keen on turning their focus to other transfer endeavours in the final week of the window.
