Chris Sutton tempers expectations around new Celtic signing

Celtic legend Chris Sutton seems to be pleased with a recent piece of transfer business done by the Hoops. However, he feels that Mohamed Elyounoussi may need time to settle in at the club. He also wants to see more signings made by the Hoops before the transfer window closes.

Elyounoussi unexpectedly joined the Hoops on a one-year loan deal from Southampton on Friday night. He looks to be good singing for the Hoops, but Sutton claims that it may take time for the player to be at his best.

“Elyounoussi looks to be decent business but will need time, still more signings required” the former Hoops striker stated on his Twitter account.

Sutton is correct about the Hoops needing to make a few more signings before the transfer window. Celtic need at least another two or three additions before Monday’s deadline.

Player could feature at Ibrox

However, the part about Elyounoussi needing time might not apply. It would not be a surprise to see the player feature at some stage of Celtic’s visit to Ibrox on Sunday.

He might not start the game, that could be too much of a risk, but it would not be a shock to see Elyounoussi on the bench at the very least.

Sutton’s attitude towards the signing is understandable. However, if Neil Lennon wants the player to have an instant impact on the side, then he should feature at Ibrox.
