Celtic have announced the signing of Croatia international Josip Juranovic from Legia Warsaw.
Juranovic, subject of an on-again, off-again transfer saga of late, all but confirmed he would be joining the club in comments that emerged this morning. However, it’s now official, with the club announcing the news on their website [Celtic FC].
Ange Postecoglou, who’s stressed the need for quality and quantity in his squad, was delighted with the purchase. The Celtic manager said [Celtic FC]:
“We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Josip to the Club and we are sure he will be a great addition to the squad.
“As I have said before, everyone at the club has been working hard to add to our squad and we have made good progress. I am really pleased to bring Josip in to support the rest of the boys.
“We have so many challenges ahead of us and Josip will add important quality and depth. I am really looking forward to working with him.”
It’s an absolute steal for Celtic, too. Capped 10 times by Croatia, and a star in the Polish top-tier, Juranovic at under £3m represents a total bargain for the club.
Having been linked to George Baldock of Sheffield United, Aurelio Buta of Royal Antwerp and Yan Couto of Manchester City, finally having a top-quality right-back through the door is great news.
Albeit, he’ll have competition. Postecoglou recently picked out Anthony Ralston, the Bellshill Baresi, for particular praise.
