Confirmed: Kyle Joseph signs for Swansea City after Celtic talks
Reported Celtic transfer target Kyle Joseph has signed for Swansea City, it was confirmed by the Welsh club this afternoon.
The Scotland youth international joins the Championship side from Wigan Athletic after a first-team breakthrough.
🤝 Swansea City has agreed the transfer of @Kyle9Joseph from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, subject to EFL, FAW and FA clearance.

He scored five goals in 18 English League One appearances last season. That attracted attention from a number of clubs, including the Bhoys. [Transfermarkt]
The Daily Mail reported in April that Celtic had been close to finalising a pre-contract arrangement for him in February after talks were held. He would have cost just £230,000 in cross-border compensation fees.
Celtic’s reported interest in the forward goes all the way back to July of last year.
However, he’ll now be developing his skills in Wales with the hope of securing regular week-to-week football.
Kyle Joseph had been tipped to shine at Celtic
Former Hoops player and coach Billy Stark spoke highly of the player earlier this year, having worked with him extensively within the Scotland set-up.
Speaking to Herald Sport (11/03 print edition, page 6), he said: “He’s six foot two, he’s mobile, and he’s improved I must say. Technically he wasn’t the best when we first had him, we definitely felt it wasn’t the strongest part of his game coming towards the ball and having his back to goal, that sort of thing.
“What he has got is pace, a great appetite to run and work for the team, and his goalscoring record throughout the levels was excellent at Wigan.
“His finishing has improved as well. So he’s a great package for any club at 19-years-old, and there is plenty of room still for improvement too. The basics are there to improve him, and he’s a boy who is desperate to learn. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
Hopefully, this won’t be a case of ‘one that got away’ for Celtic, like other targets we’ve missed out on in previous years.
With Ange Postecoglou now in the door, we should be able to move forward with a variety of potential signings.
