Celtic look very close to completing their fourth signing of the season. Hapoel Be’er Sheva have confirmed on social media that they and Celtic have agreed a deal for Hatem Abd Elhamed. All that has to be completed are the medical and a work permit.
So that makes four signings for the Hoops before the end of July. That is impressive, especially when you compare it to the inertia of last season.
Squad problems still need to be solved
However, the Hoops can’t be finished yet in the transfer market. There are still problems in the squad that need to be solved.
Therefore, it has to be asked – what’s next in the transfer window for Celtic?
The club still need to sign a proper right-back. Elhmaed had played there in the past. However, the vast majority of his career has been spent as a centre-half.
Playing him at right-back can only be a short term option.
Another striker?
Perhaps another striker is a good idea. The Hoops’ three strikers have all dealt with injury issues in the last year, which isn’t ideal. As a result, perhaps another forward should be signed.
Another attacking midfielder would be useful, perhaps the Hoops will return for Romaine Sawyers. So while the transfer activity has been welcome, it should not end any time soon.
At least another two quality, first team ready signings should be made – let’s hope the Hoops make them sooner rather than later.
