Stephen Welsh looked like he was going to have two options before the end of the transfer window: stay at Celtic or return to Motherwell.
Welsh was recalled from his loan at Fir Park as Martin O’Neill looked to address the lack of defensive cover in his side.
Because he played in the win against Auchinleck Talbot, it was widely presumed that his only chance of leaving the club would be to go back to Motherwell due to the two clubs per-season rule.
However, there is a loophole which means that some moves are not completely out of the question.
Should Celtic allow Stephen Welsh leave the club permanently?

Where could Stephen Welsh move to?
If the 25-year-old were to depart Celtic Park, another option away from Motherwell would be to join a team competing in a summer league.
This is due to their start dates taking place at different times but as expected, there are very few options.
In Europe, the biggest leagues with summer starts are the Allsvenskan (Sweden), Eliteserien (Norway) and League of Ireland.
None of those are particularly appealing, whereas on a global scale the MLS, A-League and J-League/Chinese Super League are all outside options.

How much would Celtic sell Stephen Welsh for?
A centre-back is on the Hoops’ list of priorities for the transfer window and an arrival could allow Welsh to leave.
In terms of a fee for the 25-year-old, Celtic are reportedly looking for a relatively modest fee to move the academy graduate on.
Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph told the Off the Underside Podcast that the club had quoted an asking price of £400,000 to Aberdeen, who were interested before he played at the weekend.
