While many will be expecting Celtic to spend a serious bit of cash this summer relative to other teams in Scotland, the Bhoys will still be on the hunt for potential bargains.

The free transfer market could well be viable this summer if Brendan Rodgers is keen on tapping into quality on the fringes of squads in bigger leagues around Europe.

The English Championship may throw up a few talents on the cheap, too. We already know that Celtic have been monitoring potential budget options in advance of the window opening.

One player they were said to be scouting is midfielder Callum O’Hare, who had an impressive 2023/24 campaign in the English second tier with Coventry City.

The Daily Mail reported back in March that Celtic were one of several sides monitoring his situation, including La Liga and Premier League clubs.

Callum O’Hare officially leaves Coventry

On Monday afternoon it was announced that the Sky Blues had not been able to agree on a new contract with the attack-minded talent after 142 appearances and that he had left the club.

They released a statement on the fan-favourite, who was one of their standouts on a fairy tale run in the FA Cup to the semi-final stage, where they heartbreakingly lost out to Manchester United on penalties.

O’Hare scored ten goals in total for the club last term and is likely to earn a move to a bigger club over the summer months. Could that be Celtic?

As the Bhoys consider the future of their midfield and rumours continue to swirl about a big-money exit for Matt O’Riley, O’Hare looks like a solid potential option who – at 26 – still has his peak years ahead of him. He’s one to watch.
