Former Celtic star Jota is about to be joined by another big name in world football, according to a report.

The Hoops attacker departed for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ittihad at the start of July. He became the club’s third major overseas summer signing, after the acquisitions of French pair N’Golo Kanté and Karim Benzema.

Since then, The Tigers haven’t added any more well-known names, but it seems like that’s about to change with the start of their league season just a fortnight away.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool midfielder Fabinho will be joining the club.

Romano tweeted on Friday evening, saying: “Fabinho has completed medical tests as Al Ittihad player, here we go!

“Liverpool and Al Ittihad are still waiting to sign documents, medical approved as verbal agreement has been reached.

“Deal being completed and sealed on three year contract.”

As many of you will now, Romano’s “here we go” phrase is pretty much taken as confirmation that a transfer will be happening nowadays.

Jota will no doubt be pleased to have more world-class quality joining him at the club. From the outside, it seems like Al Ittihad could be contenders for the league this season.

Fabinho will become the second Liverpool player to move to Saudi Arabia recently, after Jordan Henderson’s move to Al Ettifaq earlier in the week.

Henderson will be team-mates with Jack Hendry and Moussa Dembele at his new club, while Jota and Fabinho now look like they’ll be hooking up.
