Former Celtic target Rhian Brewster has signed a loan deal with Swansea City. The Liverpool teenager will play for the Welsh side until the end of the season.

Is Brewster’s signing with Swansea a chance missed for the Hoops to bring him to Glasgow? The striker would be much needed help as back-up to record signing Odsonne Edouard.

Rhian Brewster to Celtic no longer on the cards

Unfortunately, despite a move coming very close, the Dagenham boy stayed on Merseyside. Things ultimately went quiet on the Brewster front under Lennon but should have been revisited this window.

Celtic are on the lookout for a striker to compete with Edouard with the Celts’ other strikers being out of sorts.

Brewster could have come in and done a job for at least six months in the Hoops. He has made 12 appearance in all competitions, scoring five with one assist this season. Brewster’s latest appearance for the reds was in the recent derby cup win over Everton.

Plus, the move isn’t too dissimilar to the one that brought ex-PSG kid Timothy Weah to Glasgow.

If Brewster did do well, the Celts more than likely would have extended his stay and Brewster would continue to learn a more physical way of football.

Hoops do get one over Merseyside club

It’s not all doom and gloom when it comes to Liverpool linked Celtic players.

The Bhoys did manage to capture 15-year-old Bruno Davidson who had been on trial with Liverpool. The winger has joined the Celts on a three year deal from Hutchinson Vale according to the Daily Record.

Leicester City and Southampton were also vying for the youngster’s signature.

Davidson may not be Brewster, but he can take heart that a lot of top teams were aiming to sign him. If he works hard enough, Davidson will no doubt make his mark in Glasgow before climbing the footballing ladder.

Let’s hope he lives up the reputation that he arrives to the Hoops with.
