Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has made a bold prediction about Odsonne Edouard. Wilson, who won three titles with the Hoops in the 2000s, believes that Edouard can go on to become an even better player than former Hoops striker Moussa Dembele.
Edouard has started the season off in great form for the Hoops, and Wilson thinks clubs will be taking note of his performances so far this season.
“When you are French, are playing at international level and scoring goals on all fronts, people will be sitting up and taking notice of you” Wilson said, as reported by the Herald.
“Potential to go on and be better”
“I would say Dembele when he moved on was better but I feel Edouard has the potential to go on and be better. He’s strong as anything. You saw that at Ibrox where I felt he battened the two centre halves about.”
It is too early to tell if Edouard will go on to be better than a player that Celtic sold to Lyon for £19.7 million. However, Edouard does have the potential to go far in the game.
Italian side reportedly interested in player
Teams already seem to be interested in signing the player. The Daily Mail recently reported that Napoli were considering a move for Edouard after scouting him for the last two seasons.
If Edouard does go on to be a better player than Dembele, then Celtic could earn more money from a potential transfer than they did when Dembele left the club.
Hopefully Celtic fans do not need to worry about Edouard’s departure just yet. However, it does seem that he will leave the Hoops sooner rather than later.
