Celtic added five new players to the squad in the January transfer window, with three coming in on Deadline Day.
Celtic’s January transfer business certainly adds more players to the first team squad, but are they for the correct position?
Frank McAvennie was having his say on transfer deadline day as the former Celtic striker was left baffled about one signing the club made.
It appears that Joel Mvuka’s arrival at Celtic has angered McAvennie as he let rip at the people inside the club who okayed this move.

Frank McAvennie criticises Celtic for signing ‘another winger’
Celtic fans knew heading into the window that the club needed a striker, a defender and possibly another midfielder.
While a winger was deemed another position that Martin O’Neill needed to strengthen, McAvennie was not convinced.
McAvennie said on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, “But Celtic are in the market and they’ve bought a winger, which I don’t think we need.
“Well, I might be wrong. Is it another winger that doesn’t cross?
“Who looks at that team and says, ‘Oh, we need another winger?’ There’s not one supporter would think, ‘Oh, we need another winger.’
“Yeah, we need Yang out there on the right or Forrest. Forrest looks good when he comes on.
“He can’t do it all the time. But it’s not my priority.”
Why Frank McAvennie’s Celtic rant is wrong
It’s clear Celtic need another winger. Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha are not producing the goods in the green and white Hoops right now.
The argument could be made for Tounekti, but the Tunisian is certainly not consistent enough.
Do you see Joel Mvuka as a starter or a backup option?
Mvuka will at least bring competition to Yang and give O’Neill the ability to rotate the squad, because relying on James Forrest at this stage of his career simply cannot go on.
Only time will tell whether Mvuka will give Celtic the ammunition for the forwards, but we would leave you with this.
If Martin O’Neill thinks he’s worth bringing in, who are we to argue?
