Fraser Forster has made a surprise return to the Premier League.

Aged 37, the ex-Celtic goalkeeper has been a free agent since leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the end of his contract in the summer.

He had signed for Spurs under Antonio Conte, who recalled facing him with the Hoops in the Champions League in 2013.

Forster was later part of the Spurs squad which won the Europa League under Parkhead hero Ange Postecoglou last summer.

And he’ll be spending the next few months on the books at another Premier League side, where he’ll link up with a former Celtic teammate.

Should Julian Araujo be thrown straight in for a debut against Rangers?

Celtic hero Fraser Forster makes Premier League return

Bournemouth have just done Celtic a favour early in January, giving them Julian Araujo on loan until the end of the season.

But that isn’t the only business they’ve been doing over the New Year period.

Short on goalkeepers, they have secured the signing of Forster in time to register him for their upcoming fixture against Arsenal.

The Cherries lost Kepa Arrizabalaga at the end of his loan deal last season, replacing him with Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

But they have been a goalkeeper short all season, and would’ve had to use former Kilmarnock man Will Dennis if Petrovic had been injured at any point.

They now have Forster in as cover, becoming the eighth club of his career.

He links up with Ryan Christie, his teammate from his second spell at Celtic Park. Ex-Hoops youngster Ben Gannon-Doak is also on the books at the Vitality Stadium.

Forster has signed a six-month contract.

Julian Araujo’s first words as a Celtic player

Having joined the Hoops from Bournemouth, Araujo has already been speaking to the Celtic website.

He said: “I am really happy to join Celtic. This is a top club and I can’t wait to get going and work hard with the other players to bring our fans success.

“I know the demands at a club like Celtic, and I am ready for these. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and I want to play my part in bringing good times and good, winning football to our supporters.

“I have met the boys already. We have some great players in the squad and we are all ready to tackle the second half of the season and do as much as we can for the fans.”
