Celtic’s transfer activity really needs to step up as we head into the final couple weeks of the window.

Julian Araujo is the only January arrival so far and there will need to be plenty more before the 2 February deadline to satisfy supporters.

It feels like more could be on the way after Martin O’Neill stressed they were working hard behind the scenes to make something happen.

As well as first-team ready players, the Hoops are also looking to the future, but will need to be quick with their decision following interest from elsewhere.

Shamrock Rovers’ asking price for Michael Noonan revealed

According to Irish outlet The 42, Celtic target Michael Noonan is the subject of bids from Hoffenheim.

Both have been rejected by Shamrock Rovers, who allegedly want around €2m for his services and the latest news comes after Fabrizio Romano claimed Noonan was heading to Germany.

Noonan, who 67 Hail Hail revealed was on Celtic’s radar, broke into Rovers’ first-team and scored nine goals from 30 games last season.

It seems like a modest fee for someone clearly onto better things, but would he be ready to compete in the senior squad?

Celtic would still need another striker, even if they signed Michael Noonan

The youngster would certainly tick the criteria of signing a striker, but let’s not pretend that he would be the answer to all of our prayers.

He still has lots of development to go through and would more than likely head out on loan to play regular first-team football.

That would still leave O’Neill desperately in need of a proven number nine to lead the line and score the goals that Celtic crave.
