Celtic aren’t the only team in the market for a striker this winter.
In fact, one very familiar face is on the move, three years after leaving Celtic abruptly.
Giorgos Giakoumakis was one of many crucial signings in Ange Postecoglou’s first summer, joining the Hoops from VVV Venlo in the Netherlands.
Despite intense competition from Kyogo Furuhashi which often saw him benched, the Greece international finished as the Premiership’s top scorer in his first season.
He left Celtic for MLS in 2023, but three years on, he looks set for another move.

Giakoumakis is currently on loan in his native Greece from Cruz Azul in Mexico.
He is at his eleventh club in his career – his agents don’t often get much time to rest.

Linking up with former Celts Greg Taylor and Jonjoe Kenny in Thessaloniki, he has scored five league goals for PAOK.
But his parent club seem to be considering recalling him, with the intention of selling him to a major European league.
That’s because Real Oviedo have reportedly asked for the conditions of a deal, according to reports in Mexico.
Giakoumakis splits opinion among Celtic fans. Some remember him as a deadly striker with a brilliant goal record, whilst others criticise his lack of link-up and the manner in which he left.
He’s 31 now, so probably not the exact market that Celtic usually shop in.

Kyogo’s fall-off since Postecoglou’s departure is quite something.
After drawing criticism under Brendan Rodgers (but still scoring goals), he drew interest from Manchester City before eventually joining Rennes. He’s now enduring a horrid goalless run at Birmingham City.
For Hyeon-gyu Oh, fortunes have been different. He came close to joining Stuttgart for £20 million in the summer but failed a medical.
His move to Genk has certainly worked out better than his move to Celtic.
