Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is believed to be weighing up his exit options as reports on the striker’s future continue to ramp up.

Speculation has been surrounding the Greek international throughout the month of January after reports suggested that the player’s representatives couldn’t agree on a new deal at Parkhead.

Clubs from across the globe have been monitoring the striker’s situation, with a potential exit in the winter window on the horizon.

Over the last week, reports in Scotland and Japan linking Giakoumakis to J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds have continued to intensify.

Talks between the player and the Japanese club were supposedly taking place as they eye up a surprise move for last season’s Scottish Premiership top goalscorer.

And according to the latest reports from Sky Sports this evening, Celtic and Urawa Red Diamonds have reportedly agreed on an initial fee of £3 million.

Although a fee has been agreed for the striker between the two clubs, there is still interest elsewhere, such as MLS side Atalanta and Giakoumakis is continuing to weigh up his exit options.

Scottish journalist Mark Hendry of Football Scotland followed up this report by stating that Giakoumakis’ representative, Blash Hossein, is due to jet into Glasgow to finalise his exit.

He also revealed that the Bhoys have rejected a bid from Serie A side Sampdoria, who were another club heavily linked to the former VVV-Venlo man.

So it doesn’t appear that Giorgos Giakoumakis is closing in on one particular transfer option. However, it is looking considerably more likely that he has played his final game in the green and white Hoops.

Giorgos Giakoumakis Celtic future looks set to be decided.

As the transfer speculation continues to hot up, it is seeming more probable that Saturday’s Viaplay Cup tie was Giorgos Giakoumakis’ last outing as a Celtic player.

As mentioned, it doesn’t seem as though the frontman is much closer to choosing his next destination just yet.

However, with his agent set to fly into the country, reports are indicating that his time at Celtic will soon come to an end.

Of course, things can change quickly in football, and we have seen this many a time as Celtic supporters. But, a glance at social media would suggest supporters are gearing up for confirmation.

It would be a fitting way for the Celtic number seven to bring his time at the club to an end, scoring the second goal in the victory over Kilmarnock.

It is now just a case of waiting to see what develops in the coming days.
