Colby Donovan feels ‘ready’ for first-team football as Celtic exit beckons
Young Donovan, at just 18, is yet to make a competitive senior appearance for Celtic despite featuring in last summer’s tour of the USA.
However, a report in the Daily Record says that Dundee have ‘opened talks’ to take the talented right-back to Dens Park this week.
Scott Brown is said to be ‘keen’ to take Donovan to Ayr United with Celtic having the newly formed cooperation agreement in place this summer.
The report says Donovan believes he is ready to ‘step up to the Premiership level’ and it appears, at this moment, that step up will not be at Celtic.
Colby Donovan and Celtic B
Despite not making his senior Celtic debut, Donovan has featured heavily in the young B team squad.
Here is how Donovan has fared in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League with Celtic:
- Celtic B: 36 appearances, three goals and one assist
- UEFA Youth League: 7 appearances and one assist
It’s not clear whether the Dundee move would be a loan or permanent with Ayr keen on a temporary deal.
Hopefully, a loan move will ensue for Donovan so that he can return to Celtic with some first-team game experience under his belt this season.
