The loan move of Gustaf Lagerbielke to Serie A side Lecce has stalled, according to Tuesday night reports coming out of Italy.
Gianluca di Marzio, who works with Sky Sport Italia, reports that Lagerbielke was on the brink of finalising a switch before Celtic pulled the plug at the last minute.
It’s stated that an injury to Cameron Carter-Vickers is the reason behind the development. It’s unclear whether this is a new problem or related to recent issues he has been going through.
The defender only returned to the team at the weekend in a win over Ross County but he was substituted off after 64 minutes.
Brendan Rodgers indicated after the match this was just a precaution but, potentially, there is another problem with the 26-year-old, who recently signed a contract extension with the Bhoys.
Celtic fans await confirmation of Cameron Carter-Vickers issue
Supporters will now anxiously await word from the club or the manager on the extent of any Carter-Vickers injury.
If it’s enough to halt getting Lagerbielke out the door then the fear will be it’s a pretty serious problem, until that confirmation update comes.

It would be prudent for the Bhoys to hold on to the Swede if Carter-Vickers is out for an extended period.
Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh are the only other central defenders in Rodgers’ plans at the moment.
Losing Carter-Vickers would be a serious blow to the team. It’s also a personal setback for the player who has been plagued with issues throughout the season.
Knee surgery last summer meant he didn’t get a proper pre-season period to gain fitness.
He’s been in and out of action ever since with a succession of hamstring problems but has still managed to make 18 appearances in all competitions.
