Peterborough United striker and Celtic target Ivan Toney has been speaking to Sky Sports about the transfer interest that has followed him this summer.
It was reported by The Scottish Daily Mail at the end of July that Celtic had made a bid for Toney, which was rejected.
It’s also been reported by outlets such as The Glasgow Times that Toney favours a move to Celtic Park, rather than Brentford in the English Championship.
Toney is happy to remain patient for the right offer to come in from Posh’s perspective, but has admitted it’s time for him to play his football elsewhere.
His ultimate ambition is to one day play in the Premier League.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Toney said: “They get their strikers scoring goals and get money for them so I think it’s a business for them. Obviously it would have been sweeter getting promoted but I feel like from a personal view it’s time to move on.
“For now though I’m still a Peterborough player and I’ve just got to focus on playing football.
“I want to play at the highest possible level, so the Premier League. We’ll see what happens and see who comes along. You’ve got to be confident otherwise there’s no point setting out to try and play at the top level. I feel like my ability will get me there, whether it’s now, next season or whenever it is.”
Time will tell whether Celtic manage to make the right offer for the exciting Peterborough man.
With the arrival of Albian Ajeti on a permanent basis, the resources available to Neil Lennon when it comes to strikers may have been significantly reduced.

However, Toney’s 26 goals in 36 games between the league and FA Cup last season (Transfermarkt) point to a player on the verge of bigger things in British football and Celtic Park could be the ideal development ground for him.
With Celtic potentially needing to put in place a succession plan for Odsonne Edouard over the next 12 months, Toney’s arrival wouldn’t be excessive even though we have Ajeti.
In other news, Lewis Morgan has stated Scott Brown was instrumental in Jeremie Frimpong’s path to the Celtic first-team.
