Former Celtic target James Léa Siliki is relishing his chance with Rennes following the Hoops’ interest.
The French midfielder has became a mainstay in the Julien Stephan’s side. When the Bhoys were linked to Léa Siliki by French outlet RMC [11h27], he was only a squad player.

However, despite the move not coming off, Léa Siliki is showing everyone why Celtic were his potential suitors.
James Léa Siliki pushing on since Celtic interest ended
The 23-year-old is creating a surprise partnership with teenage wonderkid Edouardo Camavinga.

Léa Siliki had a tough beginning to the season where he continued to be in and out the team. However, since 11th October, he has only started on the bench once and has been a shining light of stability.
Rennes have only experienced defeat twice in those seven games altogether. The left footer is having the desired effect, keeping les rouges et noirs in the top half of the Ligue 1 table.
This will be a massive boost to his confidence, particularly after the Celtic move came to nothing.

RMC reported that he could possibly have been a replacement for Olivier Ntcham if he left in the summer. Both players remained were they were following that window, but should Celtic revisit their interest?
Will Hoops go back in for Rennes midfielder?
The scenario could be similar in the summer window with several players with a question mark on their head. Will Ntcham be looking to move again and will Scott Brown continue for another season?

Léa Siliki’s run in the team will also mean his price will continue to rise into the next window. Rennes themselves could lose Camavinga and it would be a disaster to lose Léa Siliki too.
Looking back, it appears the summer, or even this window, would have been the best time to bring in Léa Siliki.
He is a man with a career set for the top and a lot of Hoops fans may rue the club not going after him in the near future.
