John Hartson has spoken about the gulf in finances in England and Scotland as Celtic express interest in Liverpool goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
Celtic have a big call to make during these next six months with number one Joe Hart expected to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Unless the 36-year-old is handed a new contract during these coming months, then you expect this season to be his final bow.
That’s why mixed reports have emerged about Caoimhin Kelleher possibly coming to Parkhead.
It was suggested to John Hartson that the transfer fee on the 25-year-old’s head would be a ‘fortune’, with the former striker mentioning how the money down south has gone ‘beyond’ anything, as he told Go Radio.
Luckily for Celtic, goalkeepers aren’t in high demand like strikers or midfielders these days, nor do they have inflated prices on their heads.
Perhaps that will help the club bring in a player like Caoimhin Kelleher, but that’s only hope so far.
Money in Scotland and England
“It’s because of the TV money and what goes with it,” said Hartson. “It just blows the Scottish finances side of things.
“It’s beyond, isn’t it, the money down south now.”

Caoimhin Kelleher would be a top purchase
One issue Celtic have got is that Kelleher’s stock is continuing to rise this season with his Liverpool side chasing all four trophies.
The Reds are sitting top of the Premier League table, in the League Cup final, still in the FA Cup and they are favourites to win the Europa League.
Kelleher is expected to play a big part in that and you would assume if he helps his side to a few trophies, then it will only increase his transfer value, which in turn, probably pushes Celtic further away from signing him.
