Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish understands if the club wants to take their time with transfers this summer, insisting making the right choice is better than making a quick choice.
Most fans are in agreement that the club badly needs bodies in the door. Certainly one or two are expected before we kick-off against FC Midtjylland later this month.
However, Dalglish is taking into account the realities of the market and reckons the Bhoys won’t be doing business just for the sake of it.
Speaking to The Sunday Post: “With the start of the new Premiership campaign less than four weeks away – and Champions League qualifiers to be played before then –time is of the essence.
“But there also has to be a degree of patience. Making hasty decisions can lead to mistakes – and we all know that for Celtic there is little room for error this season.
“Signings have been made, such as the lad from Sheffield Wednesday last week. Ange sanctioned the move for Osaze Urhoghide, and he is a right-sided defender with potential.
“The fans will want to see money being spent, and a household name or two being added to the squad. But they have to trust in the process, and believe that it is all heading in the right direction behind the scenes.
“If Celtic are being a wee bit cautious behind the scenes – checking, double-checking and then triple-checking – before sanctioning a transfer in or out, then I’m comfortable with that.”

Although it feels like Celtic are playing it by ear right now, even with Ange Postecoglou in the door, hopefully enough work has been done over the last 12 months in the scouting department.
The club will be moving ahead off work done by Nick Hammond, who has now left Celtic, and the team that was in place. Postecoglou will be identifying which players will be best suit to his play style and tactical plans.
Dalglish is right of course. But the fans really do need to see a bit of transfer business before European qualifiers. Even one quality first-team choice would show faithful supporters the rebuild is progressing well.
