We’re into the final stages of the summer transfer window and Celtic need to start making progress on confirming key targets.
The Bhoys have signed Adam Idah, Paulo Bernardo, Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo so far but still have several positions to strengthen throughout Brendan Rodgers’ team.
With Matt O’Riley heading out the Celtic door towards Brighton, too, it’s critical that Celtic make a sustained late push to bring in real quality.
One of the options discussed to fill that O’Riley void has been Mateusz Bogusz, the LAFC talent who is attracting attention in MLS with 17 goals and six assists this season.
Mateusz Bogusz comes at a stiff price for Celtic
The latest on that transfer pursuit is that LAFC aren’t willing to let him go without a bit of a fight.
Despite Celtic being prepared to offer a hefty £8m for his services, The Daily Record reports that’s still significantly short of the US club’s valuation, who see him as a “major asset”.
Further, it’s said that he won’t be leaving LA before Sunday’s Leagues Cup final match against Columbus Crew, despite online chatter around the tracking of private jets.

Celtic want Bogusz with or without O’Riley
Encouragingly, Celtic do seem to view Bogusz as one of their principal targets. Sky Sports reported this week that the Bhoys want to pursue a deal for the Polish start regardless of how things pan out with O’Riley and Brighton.
Negotiations between the clubs are said to be ongoing so this is a wait-and-see situation for supporters right now, but it does at least seem that Brendan Rodgers and the recruitment team will be making a serious play to land Bogusz.
