Lennon says there's 'quite a number' of targets for Celtic left-back postion

Neil Lennon briefly touched on Celtic’s hunt for a Kieran Tierney replacement during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday evening, The Daily Record report.

The Hoops announced the signing of Moritz Bauer on a season-long loan, with option to buy, earlier today. That means we can tick off the right-back position ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

Elsewhere in the defensive line though there’s still an urgent need for quality additions. Support and competition is required for Boli Bolingoli in particular.

Heading into the last few days of the summer window, Lennon has now suggested they’ve been looking at plenty of players for the position.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the manager said: “We’re looking at options. We’ve shown interest in quite a number of players, but you have to show a bit of patience with these things.

“We are still looking to strengthen that area.”

Who are the most likely arrivals?

The two left-backs most linked with a move to the Hoops have been Birger Meling of Rosenborg and Greg Taylor of Kilmarnock.

One of that duo is potentially the most likely to be announced prior to Monday, with both seemingly available and affordable for the Hoops if we truly want them.

As the club demonstrated on Wednesday though, they can pull a signing out of the bag whose name hasn’t really been dominating the back pages. Moritz Bauer was not a name that had come up extensively this summer prior to his arrival.

With Lennon urging patience with his most recent comments, we should probably not expect any signings until after tomorrow night’s match against AIK.
