Celtic’s Europa League campaign hasn’t gone to plan so far.
After four matches, the Celts have only won against Sturm Graz and currently sit outside of the top 24 League Phase places which qualify to the knockout stages.
Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Sturm Graz victory, and it ultimately turned out to be his final one in charge of Celtic.
Despite his domestic success, interim replacement Martin O’Neill’s only slip-up has been in his Europa League trip to Midtjylland, and the Celts have their work cut out for their next four games.
But for one of their upcoming opponents, a familiar face could depart before their clash in January.
Lewis Ferguson could leave Bologna before Celtic clash
Lewis Ferguson has been a revelation at Bologna.
Since joining from Aberdeen in 2022, he has become one of their main players, being named Serie A midfielder of the season in his second campaign.

He is now club captain at the Serie A side, lifting the Coppa Italia with them last season. It certainly beats finishing in the bottom six at Aberdeen.
Given his family ties to Rangers, Celtic fans would love to get one over on him when they travel to Bologna in January.
But according to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, they may not get the chance.
The report claims that Inter Milan, finalists in last season’s Champions League, have set their sights on Ferguson after dropping their pursuits of two other midfielders.
They had previously been chasing Morten Frendrup and Manu Kone, who both also play in Serie A.
But they have reportedly now moved on to 26-year-old Ferguson, who played in Scotland’s historic win over Denmark on Tuesday.
Inter are said to be ready to test the waters in January, which could mean that the Hoops could face a Bologna side without their captain.
Celtic’s remaining Europa League opponents
The Celts are reportedly still in talks with Wilfried Nancy, and if he joins in the next week, he could be in charge for next Thursday’s trip to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord.
Managed by Premier League legend Robin van Persie, the Dutch side have struggled in their UEL campaign so far, losing three of their four games.
After that, it’s a glamour tie against Roma in December. The Italians are flying high in Serie A under new boss Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Bologna game follows that in January, before their League Phase concludes with a potentially crucial home meeting with Utrecht.
