Celtic player Boli Bolingoli, on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir, has caught the eye playing up against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League tonight.
The left-back, who left Glasgow under a cloud following a breach of pandemic guidelines, is in Turkey for the season.
He helped his team to a 2-1 victory over the English Premier League outfit and some fans watching on took to social media to praise his performance.
At the moment Istanbul remain bottom of Group H, which also includes RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain, but still have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages or dropping into the Europa League.
The 25-year-old only managed a match rating of 6.6 with stat-trackers WhoScored, but that still ranks ahead of expensive United options like Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the same flank.
Some might be frustrated to see Bolingoli landing on his feet and playing well in the prestigious competition, but it’s actually a good thing for Celtic.
If he continues to catch the eye, it will only help the club sell him permanently to the Turkish side or another team on the continent.
It’s unlikely he has a future at Celtic Park in the circumstances, so anything that makes it easier for the Scottish champions to cash in is fine with me.
Celtic didn’t announce an option to buy when the loan deal was disclosed, but the Turkish side did on their official website.
These supporters have taken to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on his performance…
